The Banxia exclusive PRS holster
As well as our exclusive cases for the
Interwrite PRS keypads, we can now offer a custom-moulded "holster" so
that you can attach your PRS-RF keypads to a table or desk. The holster
includes a retractor to ensure that the keypad will stay in place no
matter which way up the holster is moved. This holster was originally
designed for a 500 seat lecture theatre where the seats have integrated
folding tables, but the design means that it can essentially be used
anywhere.
The big benefit of this holster is that the students always have a keypad
available. No more forgetting to bring them to the lecture and missing
out. The retractor uses a wire that will give some resistance to cutting,
but if someone is determined it won't stop them - thicker wire would
cost a lot more, and someone would still bring bolt croppers! But it
will prevent accidental removal, while not being awkward.

The holster with keypad inserted. The keys are not touched by
the holster, even if it inserted face down. The power
switch is readily accessible, and battery changing is not impeded.

The holster has a guide system for smooth insertion of the keypad,
and screw holes to allow flexible mounting on the desk/table/chair.
The corners are all rounded so there are no sharp edges. The plastic
is robust enough for use in a lecture theatre. |

The components of the holster (upturned here) as supplied. The
retractor fits into the holster and the wire goes through a slot
into a plate that fits the end of the keypad exactly. The plate is
glued to the keypad to provide a secure fixing.
The retractor wire is 3 feet (90 cm) long (may be alterable by
arrangement). The retractor has a ratchet action so that it does
not pull the keypad all the time, only when you wish to return
it to the holster.
