Preparing questions and answers externally
Return to Introduction  Previous page  Next page
If you want to prepare a list in a word-processor there are two formats supported.

Word processor
The format for word processing imports is fairly simple. Impact Explorer will look for the first line of text and assume that is the first question. Then it will look for lines that contain the answers, which continue until it finds a blank line. It then assumes the next line is the next question. A typical example is the following text:

Q13: What size of business do you represent?
1. Micro (0-9 people)
2. Small (11 to 49 people, <£5M turnover)
3. Medium (50-249 people, <£20M turnover)
4. Large (250+ people)

Note that Impact Explorer will strip the numbers off the front, and ignores completely lines with all the same character (separator lines typically)

Spreadsheet
If you are using a spreadsheet, then you should put each question and its answers on the same line, with a tab character separating each answer. The table therefore looks like:

Which day follows Monday?
Sunday
Tuesday
Friday
Which letter follows B?
A
C

Which month follows March?
February
April
May

Note that the second question only has two choices. Impact Explorer™ automatically prompts with the correct number of choices during the activity and can support up to 10 choices per question. If you are having problems getting the format right, enter a short list in Impact Explorer™ and then select the Copy option. You can then paste into your spreadsheet or word processor to see how it should look.

When your list of questions is ready, select them on the clipboard and paste into the list manager. Follow the prompts to choose the appropriate options.
