Impact Explorer has been designed as a qualitative tool for gathering opinion on a wide range of subjects. It is flexible, straightforward and easy to use. It is ideal for working with small groups, as a focus for debate, but it can also be used with much larger groups up to at least 250 people - as a means of taking a quick "straw poll" at the start of a debate for instance. The software lets participants vote on and rank ideas anonymously, as well as inviting opinions on two-dimensional assessments such as the probability and likely impact of risk events, cost / benefit analysis or other such common requirements.
Impact Explorer works purely with qualitative data (ideas) which can be entered directly into the software, pasted in from the clipboard, loaded from file, or imported directly from Decision Explorer®. Decision Explorer® is an ideas mapping package, used to make explicit and explore the relationships between ideas.
When facilitating a workshop, Impact Explorer helps you to manage data effectively and (optionally) provide participants with a clear picture of the different opinions held by everyone in the room. Using Impact Explorer the process of gathering opinions about issues becomes much simpler. Participants express their views anonymously, so that issues can be raised in a non-critical and non-confrontational manner.
