Simple switching
The most simple option for activating PowerPoint from Impact Explorer is to use the PowerPoint button. Click it and it will bring PowerPoint to the front - simple as that.
(Impact Explorer looks for the PowerPoint viewer window, and if there is none, the editor window, and if there is no editor either, the activate PowerPoint button is disabled.) If the button is never enabled on your computer with PowerPoint active, then it maybe that Microsoft have changed things - please contact info@banxia.com for assistance.)
Controlled operation
The more advanced method of activating PowerPoint from Impact Explorer is to use the PowerPoint agenda item. This is designed to let you fully control PowerPoint using the master keypad to step through not only the Impact Explorer activities, but also the PowerPoint slides. Let's look at an example. To introduce your workshop, you want to start with some PowerPoint slides, and then do some basic voting to find out the demographics of the participants. Then you want to switch back to PowerPoint, and discuss the areas of interest, followed by some more voting to find out the participants feelings, and then finally switch back again to round off the day in PowerPoint.
This is simple using the Impact Explorer agenda. You simply put the PowerPoint activity at the places where you want to show PowerPoint, and in between you put the voting activities (vote/Q&A/etc). When Impact Explorer runs the agenda, it will find the PowerPoint activity and automatically switch to PowerPoint, optionally moving on a slide. You then use the "next item" button on the master keypad to move forward, and it will move on to the next PowerPoint slide. Impact Explorer monitors the PowerPoint presentation, and when it sees the words "keypads:" on the slide, it will automatically switch back to Impact Explorer, and start the next agenda item - perhaps the demographic Q&A session. At the end of the voting, there might be another PowerPoint activity and it will seamlessly switch back and you continue with the presentation.
There are some advanced options around this, but it means that you can use the Impact Explorer agenda system and master keypad to control your whole workshop. The master keypad supports not only the "next item" which does Impact Explorer and PowerPoint, but also has PowerPoint only forward and backward controls for full flexibility.
See PowerPoint activity configuration for more details.
