Decision Explorer®
Viewer
The Banxia® Decision Explorer® Viewer is a FREE version of Decision
Explorer® designed to allow you to open and explore models that were
created using the full version of the software. You can use all the analysis
capabilities, print the maps, and fully explore the information in a model.
What you cannot do is create new concepts and links, edit existing concepts
and links, or save any changes that you make to map layouts.
Who is it for?
The Viewer is designed to allow licensed users of the full version to
let others view the models they have built, at no additional cost. A model
can be emailed to someone, along with the URL to this page (http://www.banxia.com/dexplore/viewer.html),
and they can then install the Viewer and see the model.
New users will probably want some guidance on the use of the software
and the tools available. The free demonstration version and the introductory
workbook may be useful for this - visit the demonstration
download page for them.
If you require the ability to edit and enhance the models, you can at
any time purchase the full version, and the models are fully compatible.
What do I need to run the
viewer?
The download is available in two versions. The first is a complete file
with all of the help and samples included. You could download it to install,
or put it on a CD. The second option is a "web download" version which
is smaller, and will only download to your computer those parts that
are needed to complete the install type you request. This can save download
time if you do not want the manuals or samples for example.
The software requires Windows 2000, XP or later. A version
to work on Windows 98 etc, is available below too, but is quite reduced
in what is included (just help and no tutorials etc). If you have any
problems installing or using it, please let us know by emailing info@banxia.com
with details of the problem.

The Decision Explorer® viewer installation file is called DE31VIEW.EXE.
The viewer software for Decision Explorer® is a "read-only"
version. It is fully functional, apart from the fact that you cannot
edit existing or create new concepts or links, and you cannot save.
It includes online help. You may like to download the introduction
document too - see demo pages.
Supplied as a Windows executable it will install into a directory
on your computer. An uninstaller is provided so you can remove
it easily.

Download
problems?
We know that many people download the demonstration files successfully
each day. If you are having trouble, check that your own configuration
is working.
Installer failure
If the installer program doesn't work when you have
it (illegal instruction?), then check that the file size is close to that
described above. You probably need to download again.
Lots of funny characters
If the file appears as a lot of funny characters on your screen,
click the Stop button, and then click Back to get you back at this page.
Now, RIGHT CLICK on the link to the file, and select the "Save Link
as" or "Save Target as" option. This will force your browser
to save the data as a file, and you will get a filename prompt.
